What kind of pet names do Japanese parents use for their children?

In America, parents call their kids by pet names, like honey or sweetie. What kind of names do Japanese parents use? Is it the same as in America or do they have their own? What kind of pet names do Japanese parents use for their children?
They use ''kun''for boys and ''chan'' for girls. What kind of pet names do Japanese parents use for their children?
Not the same, usually they don't use pet names.

Instead, they call their kids by

their name + chan (for girls and boys) or kun (for boys),

or their shortened name + chan/kun.

For example,

a girl 'Mayumi' is called 'maa chan' or 'mami chan' or 'mayumi chan' etc

a boy 'shouta' is called 'shou kun' or 'shou chan' or 'shouta kun'.

I hope it helps.
i think they use ';san'; at the end of their child's (or whomever they adore) name. like if her name is aya, then it would be aya san. i think ';san'; means ';dear'; or something close to that.
